Bauma Shanghai: The Road of Discovery for Drive Gears

From November 26th to 29th, 2024, Shanghai once again welcomed the global construction machinery industry event - Bauma Shanghai Construction Machinery Exhibition. We are a gear machine tool equipment exporter and trader, and also accept customized gear orders from customers. This time we attended the Shanghai exhibition, not only saw many famous domestic and foreign construction machinery brands, but also gained an in-depth understanding of the internationally recognized gear standards, types, product names and their application areas. Through this study, I have a deeper understanding of the gear field.

Exhibition Overview

The exhibition site was crowded with professionals from all over the world. Exhibitors covered manufacturers of various types of construction machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, cranes, drilling rigs, graders and loaders, as well as suppliers of key components such as gear parts and services for these equipment. International stands were also visited, especially the Turkish, German and Italian international pavilions, where we were able to appreciate the fascination of engineering and technology in different cultures.

A wide range of transmission gears

On the show floor, we were exposed to a wide variety of gears including, but not limited to, straight gears, spline gears, motor block gears, electric drive axle gears, secondary gears, clutch assemblies, water pump gears, transmission assemblies, and gearbox internals. Each type of gear is unique and plays an integral role in specific application scenarios. For example, straight gears are typically used to transfer power to smaller loads, while splined gears are used when a stronger connection is required. In addition, with the trend towards motorization, electric drive axle gears are becoming an important part of many new mechanical devices.

Technology Exchange and Learning

In addition to visiting the exhibits, the show provided opportunities for face-to-face exchanges with suppliers. On-site communication with two major suppliers of induction hardening machine tools and gearboxes, we not only understood the working principle of the induction hardening heat treatment process, i.e., the use of high-frequency current to generate heat to rapidly heat up the surface of the material so as to achieve the hardening effect, but also learned about the key parameters that need to be taken into account when designing gearboxes, such as gear ratios, load-bearing capacity, efficiency, etc.. This knowledge greatly enriches our theoretical foundation and makes us more confident in communicating with customers.

Cooperation Opportunities under International Perspective

Participating in such a high-level international exhibition not only broadens our horizons, but also facilitates the establishment of cross-border cooperative relationships. A Russian customer, who had been communicating with us by e-mail, came to Bauma Shanghai and met with us to exchange information about gears, and the whole process was very pleasant. I also welcome customers to visit our company.
